The Swedish interior design studio, Studio Ramson, has transformed a classic Stockholm apartment into a vibrant, international haven. The brief was to create a space that reflected the client's globetrotting lifestyle, moving away from the typical Scandinavian minimalism. This apartment, nestled in the old-world district of Östermalm, was originally built between 1921 and 1925, and the designers had a simple directive: no white. Instead, they embraced a warm and earthy color palette, drawing inspiration from the surrounding facades. The result is a cozy and elegant home that is both inviting and sophisticated, with a distinct sense of identity and character. The design process began with a clever move: transforming the old service corridor into a new architectural spine for the space. This narrow passageway was converted into an oak-clad hallway with integrated storage, creating a continuous and tactile element running through the apartment. The designers kept the original layout intact while subtly adjusting ceiling heights to soften level differences and give the interior a calmer, more cohesive rhythm. The new color palette, featuring deep pinks, rich bronzes, creamy beiges, and bright shades of blue, anchors the apartment within its neighboring environment while maintaining a contemporary expression. The renovation was a complete reimagining of the home, with no original features retained. Every interior surface was fully upgraded, and all carpentry was custom-designed to fit seamlessly into the space. The furniture, including the cream and burgundy pill-dot patterned bed in the master bedroom, the azure folding screen in the sky blue dining room, the dark blue armchair, and the lacquered oxblood coffee table, are all bespoke pieces designed by Studio Ramson. The sofas are also custom-made, and the entire project was completed under a tight deadline, showcasing the designers' ability to deliver a highly considered result. The client describes the final product as cozy and elegant, inviting and sophisticated, and tactfully polychromatic. Studio Ramson confirms that the apartment now holds a stronger sense of identity, layered, warm, and quietly confident, with a clear sense of soul and character. This transformation is a testament to the studio's skill in creating spaces that are both functional and aesthetically pleasing, reflecting the client's unique lifestyle and taste.
